3Di, Inc. and Softfront Embark on Technical Cooperation for Commercial VoIP Solution in 3D Virtual Worlds

3Di, Inc. , which offers 3D virtual world solution development and distribution (representative director and CEO Satoshi Koike), has agreed to technical cooperation with Softfront (President and CEO Katsuhiko Sakaguchi), a total solution vendor for telecommunications, in order to provide a high end 3D Internet VoIP solution for commercial purposes. The commercially oriented 3D VoIP solution combines 3Di OpenSim Server Enterprise edition with Softfront’s high end SIP/VoIP technology.

3Di, Inc. has been developing and distributing [3Di OpenSim] for companies and local governments, integrating 3D virtual worlds into web sites and Intranet sites. 3Di, Inc. released its Enterprise edition on April 15th, 2008. The theme of the VoIP solution was security, stability, and ease of use.

This time, 3Di’s web-browser-based 3Di OpenViewer combined with Softfront’s high-end telecommunication technology makes it possible to realize a commercial, stable VoIP solution in the web browser. In future, the VoIP solution will be able to deal with NGN(*1) and PSTN Networks.(*2)

3D virtual worlds with VoIP can host virtual meetings, events, or seminars. For example, this enables Business Continuity Planning (BCP) in the face of challenging situations such as recession, cost reduction, or pandemic illness. 3Di, Inc. anticipates and responds to the requirements of business in 3D virtual worlds.
